How to get more Google reviews for your mortgage brokerage

Google reviews are one of the most powerful trust signals your mortgage brokerage can have. They influence your local rankings, they reassure potential clients, and they cost nothing. The challenge is getting them consistently.

Make it easy

The number one reason clients don’t leave reviews is because it feels like effort. Create a direct link to your Google review page and send it to clients at the right moment. Google lets you generate a short URL from your Business Profile that takes people straight to the review form. Remove every possible barrier.

Ask at the right time

Timing matters. The best moment to ask is right after a successful completion, when your client is relieved, grateful, and most likely to say something positive. Don’t wait weeks. A friendly email or text message the same day or the next morning works well.

Make it personal

A generic “please leave us a review” gets ignored. A personal message works much better. Something like “Hi Sarah, it was great helping you get your first mortgage sorted. If you’ve got a minute, a Google review would really help us out” feels genuine and gets a much higher response rate.

Respond to every review

When someone takes the time to leave a review, respond to it. Thank them, mention something specific about their case, and keep it warm. This shows potential clients that you’re engaged and that you value the relationship. It also encourages others to leave their own review.

Don’t offer incentives

It’s tempting to offer a gift card or a discount in exchange for a review, but Google’s guidelines don’t allow this and it can get your reviews removed. Keep it simple and genuine.

Build it into your process

The brokerages that get the most reviews are the ones that make asking part of their standard workflow. Add it to your post completion checklist and it’ll become second nature.
