How to run a recruitment agency WordPress site

If you’re running a recruitment agency website on WordPress, you’re already on solid ground. It’s the most flexible platform out there for building a site that actually works for your business.

The key is keeping things lean and purposeful. Recruitment sites can get bloated fast, especially once you start adding job boards, candidate portals and integration plugins. Pick a lightweight theme, keep your plugin count low, and make sure everything you install is actually earning its place.

Get your job listings working hard

Your job listings are probably the most visited pages on your site, so they need to load fast and be easy to navigate. Use a dedicated jobs plugin or a custom post type rather than dumping listings onto a single page. Each role should have its own URL. That’s better for SEO and better for candidates.

Keep the site fast

Speed matters more than most agencies realise. A slow site loses candidates and clients before they’ve even read a word. Compress your images, use a caching plugin, and don’t let your theme do the heavy lifting with bloated page builders if you can avoid it.

Make it easy to get in touch

Every page should make it obvious how to reach you. A sticky header with your phone number, a short contact form, a WhatsApp button, whatever suits your audience. Don’t bury your contact details three clicks deep.

Keep WordPress updated

This sounds basic, but outdated plugins and themes are the number one reason WordPress sites get hacked. Set a monthly reminder to update everything, take regular backups, and use a security plugin as a baseline.

Don’t forget mobile

More than half your traffic is probably on a phone. Test your site on a real device, not just the responsive preview in your browser. If your job application process is painful on mobile, people will bounce.
